Oliy Majlis Senate hosts the Council’s meeting

On February 19, 2020, a meeting of the Senate Council of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan took place.

Addressing the meeting, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva focused on the responsibility of Senate members for the implementation of the urgent tasks arising from the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Oliy Majlis, as well as exercising the powers vested in the upper house of parliament.

A resolution was taken to convene the second plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on February 28 this year.

According to the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the plenary session, members of the Senate are expected to discuss a number of legislative acts and important issues regarding the consistent continuation of reforms in socio-economic, judicial-legal spheres, strengthening the institution of the makhalla and family, and protecting the rights of the child.

Among them are the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On citizenship of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, “On the census of the population”, “On metrology”, and “On international commercial arbitration”.

The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On ratification of the Charter of the Hague Conference on Private International Law (The Hague, October 31, 1951)” will also be discussed at the plenary session.

Senators will consider the issue of approval of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On measures for improving the socio-spiritual atmosphere in society, further support of the makhalla institute, as well as raising the system of work with families and women to a new level”.
