Uzbekistan attends the International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief
LONDON, July 8. On July 5-6, Uzbekistan delegation led by Justice Minister Ruslan Davletov visited the UK to attend the International Ministerial Conference on Freedom of Religion or Belief in London, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The event, organized by the British Government, was attended by about 700 delegates from more than 100 countries and international organizations in human rights. At the opening, Prince Charles, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and others delivered welcoming speeches.
Uzbekistan delegation made a report on the large-scale reforms carried out in ensuring freedom of religion in Uzbekistan, in particular, the conditions created for free functioning of 16 religious denominations in the country, as well as efforts aimed at ensuring peaceful coexistence of representatives of more than 130 nationalities.
Uzbekistan delegation held meetings with Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, Minister for South Asia, North Africa, the United Nations and the Commonwealth at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), as well as members of other delegations, including the leadership of several international organizations in human rights. The parties exchanged views on ensuring freedom of religion and developing of interreligious relations.
